Foreign Outreach
Through all these mission trips God impacts the lives of the travelers as well as the natives. The relationships that are built, sights of poverty that are observed, and experience of giving and receiving are not easy for them to keep to themselves.
Brazil
Each year we take a team of adults to work with our Covenant Missionaries in Brazil on various "Shade and Fresh Water" projects organized by the Volunteers In Missions group.
In 2004 Tuckston made two trips to Brazil. Both were in the Amazon region of Brazil. In June a group of 9 spent almost two weeks helping lay the foundation of an school-building extension of a church in a poor neighborhood in Porto Velho. In September a group went to Teresina to help dig and pour the foundation of a new Methodist church there.

In 2005 TUMC took a group of 24 including young and old, men and women, single and married with family. The group worked one week in Teresina and the other in Menaus. In Teresina the group did construction work on the first United Methodist church in that state. They poured a concrete sidewalk, help lay a brick wall, dug trenches for water lines, and moved a ton of rocks. They also hosted a VBS for over 100 children. In Menaus, the group did more construction, this time on a small church situated in a more downtown location. Most of the work was to clear debris and help pour a concrete roof, but there was also a psuedo-VBS for the neighborhood children.

The 2006 trip went to Menaus again, where the group continued work on the second floor of the building worked on in 2005 and also held three VBS days with neighborhood children.

Mexico
In 2006 the Tuckston youth went to Reynosa, Mexico for a week to do evangelism and construction. Thanks for your prayers! Check out their daily reports of the trip here.
For the past several years Tuckston youth and chaperones have gone to work with Spectrum Ministries to build small houses in the poor neighborhoods of Tijuana. In 2004 Tuckston took an extended trip to Brazil for both a younger and an older group of youth.
