ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
Time spent in Sunday School at Tuckston UMC is time spent in spiritual growth, Christian service, and fellowship. The variety of class formats, composition, and schedules provides the opportunity for everyone to find a class that fits their faith journey. There are currently six classes at 9:45 AM and three classes at 11:00 AM.
Becomers
This class is typically made up of seniors between the ages of 55-75, but everyone is welcome. The teachers are John Holland, Phil Lomax and Richard Zepp, with an occasional guest teacher. Lessons use contemporary Christian books to study the Old and New Testaments. Group discussion is encouraged and occurs frequently. Mission projects in this class are to help needy families at Christmas, Sunday night youth suppers, Bibles to Brazil and participation in fund-raisers for the Brazil Mission and the youth. Social activities include a Christmas party, Crazy Bridge, Bingo and other social gatherings quarterly
Co-Workers
This is traditionally a class of senior members who rely on a United Methodist Church lesson guide for Bible study. The teachers are Kae Brown, Tom Hoover, Jeanette Scott, Kathy Whitaker and Frank Duncan (on 5th Sunday). The class facilitator rotates quarterly among class leaders. The lesson guide progresses through the Bible and cites specific scripture that is supportive of the lesson theme.
Gatekeepers
This class meets in the Chapel of Tuckston. Meeting in the historic Chapel provides an outstanding atmosphere for the lessons delivered each Sunday by one of five different teachers. The lessons are normally based upon a selection of topics relevant to Christendom as it relates to today. The class normally has four social events which are held at the church or other locations easily accessible to all class members.
Truth Seekers
This class is made up of couples and individuals ranging in age from 25-50. Different studies are done based on the class interest. Videos, reading and discussion are used in the format.
