Purpose of United Methodist Women - United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Who is a Member of United Methodist Women? United Methodist Women is a membership and faith-based organization. Membership shall be open to any woman who indicates her desire to belong and to participate in the global mission of the church through United Methodist Women. Members are women of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds: employed and unemployed; women with disabilities; housewives and career women; single, married, widowed and divorced women; teen, young, middle-aged and older women; college and university women. Women actively choose to become involved in the organization's mission and support the purpose.
During the past year, a number of projects have been completed. Proceeds to date from cookbook sales provided $1,025 to the Murphy Harpst Home. The local Clute Barrow Nelson Life Foundation, supporting children with cancer, received $100, and 12 Tuckston babies were honored with donations to missions. School bags and layette kits were assembled and donated for disaster relief through UMCOR, and the annual UMW district meeting was hosted at our church. Cookbooks are still available, and a Tupperware fundraiser is planned for March. All women of the church are invited to participate in programs and mission projects.
UMW meets at 2:00 pm in the Pathmakers' classroom on the
first Monday of each month except for July and August.
